البلد

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. لَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدِ

   ✦1

   I swear by this city, Makkah

   ഈ രാജ്യത്തെ (മക്കയെ) ക്കൊണ്ട് ഞാന്‍ സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറയുന്നു

2. وَأَنتَ حِلُّۢ بِهَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدِ

   ✦2

   And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city

   നീയാകട്ടെ ഈ രാജ്യത്തെ നിവാസിയാണ് താനും

3. وَوَالِدٖ وَمَا وَلَدَ

   ✦3

   And [by] the father and that which was born [of him]

   ജനയിതാവിനെയും, അവന്‍ ജനിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനെയും തന്നെയാണ സത്യം

4. لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِي كَبَدٍ

   ✦4

   We have certainly created man into hardship

   തീര്‍ച്ചയായും മനുഷ്യനെ നാം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത് ക്ലേശം സഹിക്കേണ്ട നിലയിലാകുന്നു

5. أَيَحۡسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقۡدِرَ عَلَيۡهِ أَحَدٞ

   ✦5

   Does he think that never will anyone overcome him

   അവനെ പിടികൂടാന്‍ ആര്‍ക്കും സാധിക്കുകയേ ഇല്ലെന്ന് അവന്‍ വിചാരിക്കുന്നുണേ്ടാ

6. يَقُولُ أَهۡلَكۡتُ مَالٗا لُّبَدًا

   ✦6

   He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance

   അവന്‍ പറയുന്നു: ഞാന്‍ മേല്‍ക്കുമേല്‍ പണം തുലച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന്‌

7. أَيَحۡسَبُ أَن لَّمۡ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ

   ✦7

   Does he think that no one has seen him

   അവന്‍ വിചാരിക്കുന്നുണേ്ടാ; അവനെ ആരുംകണ്ടിട്ടില്ലെന്ന്‌

8. أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَل لَّهُۥ عَيۡنَيۡنِ

   ✦8

   Have We not made for him two eyes

   അവന് നാം രണ്ട് കണ്ണുകള്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കി കൊടുത്തിട്ടില്ലേ

9. وَلِسَانٗا وَشَفَتَيۡنِ

   ✦9

   And a tongue and two lips

   ഒരു നാവും രണ്ടു ചുണ്ടുകളും

10. وَهَدَيۡنَٰهُ ٱلنَّجۡدَيۡنِ

    ✦10

    And have shown him the two ways

    തെളിഞ്ഞു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന രണ്ടു പാതകള്‍ അവന്നു നാം കാട്ടികൊടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു

11. فَلَا ٱقۡتَحَمَ ٱلۡعَقَبَةَ

    ✦11

    But he has not broken through the difficult pass

    എന്നിട്ട് ആ മലമ്പാതയില്‍ അവന്‍ തള്ളിക്കടന്നില്ല

12. وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡعَقَبَةُ

    ✦12

    And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass

    ആ മലമ്പാത എന്താണെന്ന് നിനക്കറിയാമോ

13. فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ

    ✦13

    It is the freeing of a slave

    ഒരു അടിമയെ മോചിപ്പിക്കുക

14. أَوۡ إِطۡعَٰمٞ فِي يَوۡمٖ ذِي مَسۡغَبَةٖ

    ✦14

    Or feeding on a day of severe hunger

    അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ പട്ടിണിയുള്ള നാളില്‍ ഭക്ഷണം കൊടുക്കുക

15. يَتِيمٗا ذَا مَقۡرَبَةٍ

    ✦15

    An orphan of near relationship

    കുടുംബബന്ധമുള്ള അനാഥയ്ക്ക്‌

16. أَوۡ مِسۡكِينٗا ذَا مَتۡرَبَةٖ

    ✦16

    Or a needy person in misery

    അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ കടുത്ത ദാരിദ്യ്‌രമുള്ള സാധുവിന്‌

17. ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلۡمَرۡحَمَةِ

    ✦17

    And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion

    പുറമെ, വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും, ക്ഷമ കൊണ്ടും കാരുണ്യം കൊണ്ടും പരസ്പരം ഉപദേശിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ അവന്‍ ആയിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യുക

18. أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ

    ✦18

    Those are the companions of the right

    അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നവരത്രെ വലതുപക്ഷക്കാര്‍

19. وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا هُمۡ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ

    ✦19

    But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left

    നമ്മുടെ ദൃഷ്ടാന്തങ്ങള്‍ നിഷേധിച്ചവരാരോ അവരത്രെ ഇടതുപക്ഷത്തിന്‍റെ ആള്‍ക്കാര്‍

20. عَلَيۡهِمۡ نَارٞ مُّؤۡصَدَةُۢ

    ✦20

    Over them will be fire closed in

    അവരുടെ മേല്‍ അടച്ചുമൂടിയ നരകാഗ്നിയുണ്ട്‌
